Sending vouchers by SMS

Connect usmsGH, Termii or Twilio to text codes to customers.

Voucher codes are always shown on screen after payment. You can also send them by SMS, so customers have them saved even if they close the page.

SMS goes through your own provider account. You pay the provider directly, at their rates, and messages carry your sender name.

Connecting a provider

Settings → SMS delivery → Configure.

  • API key — from your provider's dashboard. For Twilio, the Account SID and Auth token.
  • Sender ID — the name messages come from, e.g. LAKESIDE. Up to 11 letters and numbers, or a phone number.

Register your sender ID first

Most providers only deliver from a registered sender ID, and approval can take one to two weeks. Register with your provider well before you launch — messages from an unregistered sender ID are often silently dropped.

Check it works

After connecting a provider, choose Send test next to it in Settings → SMS delivery and enter your own number with its country code (for example +233 24 123 4567). The message is sent immediately, and if your provider refuses it you see its reason — an unapproved sender ID, no credit, or a number it doesn't accept.

When a message doesn't arrive

Oculus retries a failed message a few times, then stops, so a wrong number doesn't use up your SMS credit. The customer can still see their code on screen.

To see what happened to one customer's message, select their voucher code — in Payments, Sessions or Vouchers. Sent to buyer shows whether it was sent and, if not, the provider's error. Resend sends it again within a minute.
