Getting started
From sign-up to your first paying customer.
Most operators are live in an afternoon. Work through these in order — each step needs the one before it.
1. Create your account
Sign up with your business name, the web address you want for your login page, your email and a password. We send a confirmation link; your account becomes active once you click it. See Your account.
The address you choose becomes your login page's address, for example
lakeside.oculus.baruchiel.com. Choose carefully — it's what your customers see.
2. Add a site
A site is one venue — a hotel, a café, a campus building. Usually it has one router.
Go to Sites → Add site and set:
- Name — shown to you, and on your login page.
- Connection type — fibre/DSL, LTE, Starlink or VSAT. Be accurate: Oculus allows more time for logins on satellite and cellular links, where delays are normal. A Starlink site marked as fibre will see customers fail to log in.
- Timezone — for reports and voucher expiry, e.g.
Africa/Accra.
More in Sites and your login page.
3. Create packages
Packages → Add package. A package is what a customer buys: a price, a speed, an optional data cap, how long it lasts, and how many devices can share it. Start with two or three — say a 1-hour pass, a day pass and a week pass. See Packages.
4. Connect your payment gateway
Settings → Payment gateways. Add your Paystack, Flutterwave or Stripe keys so customers can pay by mobile money or card. Skip this if you'll only sell printed vouchers. See Taking payments.
5. Connect your router
On the Sites page, click Add router next to your site. Oculus gives you a script to paste into the router's terminal, or a one-line command that has the router download it itself. See Connecting a router.
The router appears as Online on the Devices page within a minute.
6. Test it
Connect a phone to the hotspot. Your login page should open on its own. Try a voucher from Vouchers → Generate batch, then try buying a package.
